We’re looking for a backend engineer who thrives in high-stakes environments. At Path, the systems we defend power real-world infrastructure, from global platforms to national networks, so performance, reliability, and clarity aren’t just nice to have, they’re the standard.

In this role, you’ll own critical pieces of our backend architecture, contributing to the systems that power real-time defense, threat filtering, and large-scale telemetry. You’ll be expected to ship quickly, debug at scale, and write code that holds up under pressure. If that sounds exciting rather than overwhelming, you’re already halfway there.

This isn’t a “sprint-planning-and-sync-calls” kind of team. We move fast, stay small, and prioritize autonomy over layers of management. You’ll work closely with engineers who care deeply about their craft and want to build systems that actually matter. No fluff, just real impact.

You’ll be a good fit if you:

• Have experience working on high-performance APIs or distributed systems

• Are comfortable making architecture decisions and seeing them through

• Can debug unfamiliar codebases without asking for hand-holding

• Know how to balance shipping speed with long-term stability

• Designing and scaling filtering pipelines that analyze thousands of requests per second

• Building backend services that connect with edge nodes around the world

• Improving our internal tooling to support faster response to emerging threats

• Collaborating with frontend and product to expose backend capabilities cleanly
  
  

This is a full-time, remote-friendly role with flexibility in working hours. We’re not dogmatic about tech stacks, but we expect strong fundamentals and clear thinking.
